A 14-year-old
paraplegic teenager was attacked by mice in her own bed, being bitten and
scratched 225 times throughout the body. The case of Samantha was registered in
the French city of Roubaix, in the north of the country. The attack happened on
last Friday night.
Last Sunday, the police
station in Roubaix was alerted by the city hospital about the case of a
hospitalized paraplegic teenager with more than two cents of wounds on her
face, legs and hands, a local police source told AFP.
Doctors have concluded
that the injuries were caused by rats that attacked the girl who could not
defend herself because of her disability, the Nord-Eclair newspaper reported.
The teenager's father
filed a lawsuit against the owner of the house, where she lives with her
family, and against the Roubaix prefecture. On several occasions, he would have
unsuccessfully asked to remove a mountain of garbage from a nearby pass, the
same police source said.
In a video, the father
tells how it all happened: "The day before, we went to sleep on the second
floor of the house." There was no problem, my daughter slept on the ground
floor, and at 7 am we went to see her and Samantha was bathed in a sea of
blood.".
He claims he thought it
was an attempted robbery. "Because of her illness, she has a decreased
perception of pain, is less sensitive." Samantha would have noticed the
mice nearby, but she did not have the "presence of mind to warn us".
